Item 1 – COVID-19 Response Update for Economic Development Department programs – This is an informational item intended to update the subcommittee on the City of San Diego Economic Development Department’s progress related to COVID-19 in 2021 to current. The report will include updates on the following aspects of the department’s efforts:


 



  • Small Business Relief programs

  • Small Business and Nonprofit Relief Grant Fund

  • Microdistrict Capacity Building Grants

  • Back to Work SD - Connect 2 Careers

  • CARES Act Revolving Loan Fund

  • Community Navigators Pilot Project

  • Digital Equity

  • Community Development Block Grant (round two projects


 


Item 2 – COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program Information Update – At the request of Committee Co-Chair Councilmember Marni von Wilpert, the San Diego Housing Commission will present an informational update about the City of San Diego COVID-19 Housing Stability Assistance Program, which launched March 15, 2021, and helps pay rent and utilities for households with low income in the City of San Diego that experience financial hardship due to or during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Item 3 – County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency COVID-19 Pandemic Case Rate Update – Jennifer Tuteur, MD. Deputy Chief Medical Officer County of San Diego will provide an update on COVID[1]19 case and vaccine rates, recent changes in public health guidance, information on variants, and any additional essential information on behalf of the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.

Item 200 - Update on Organizational Changes to the City’s Real Estate Department and Overview of City’s Real Estate Portfolio – Significant changes have been made to the City's Real Estate Department under Mayor Gloria. City staff will update Council on those changes and provide an overview of the City's real estate portfolio.

Item 201 - Analysis of City Office Space Capacity and Needs – City staff will provide Council an update on the current office capacity of the City, current and projected capacity needs, the condition of City office buildings, and projected costs associated with essential maintenance of City properties.


 


Item 202 - Future Options for Downtown City-Owned Property – City staff will provide to and seek feedback from Council on potential options for the maximum utilization of Downtown City property with special focus on the Civic Core
