The People’s Business – February 13, 2023

Tuesday’s meeting of the San Diego City Council will feature six proclamations and six items on the consent agenda. In the afternoon session, councilmembers will hear amendments to the Land Development Code.

Consent Agenda


 


Six items are listed on the Consent Agenda.  This includes reappointments to the Citizens Equal Opportunity Commission and funding for Community Projects, Programs and Services (CPPS) in District Two.


 


Proclamations


 


Item 30 – San Diego Legion Opening Day celebrates the start of a new season for the San Diego Legion, the City’s and the State’s only Major League Rugby team.


 


Item 31 – Engineers Week recognizes the important contributions of engineers which are essential in many aspects of our lives and seek to solve some of our most challenging problems.


 


Item 32 – Black History Month celebrates the many achievements, contributions, and sacrifices made by African Americans to our economic, cultural, spiritual, and political development.


 


Item 33 – Gary Blume’s Total Altruism Project Day recognizes the Total Altruism Project which encourages people to perform an act of kindness by placing litter-grabbing tools on stations alongside popular walking paths where it is very convenient to make a positive impact.


 


Item 34 - Alejandra Mier y Teran honors the person who has served as the Executive Director for the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce for nearly 23 years.


 


Item 35 – Pacific Beach Three-Alarm Fire Emergency Response Appreciation Day gives recognition to the Firefighters, paramedics and police officers who responded to the fire that occurred on December 25, 2022.


 


Discussion Agenda


Item 330 - 2022 Update to the San Diego Municipal Code (Land Development Code) and Local Coastal Program and Amendment to Floor Area Ratio Bonus and Citywide Park Development Impact Fee Resolutions - The Land Development Code provides the City's regulations for the development and use of property within the City of San Diego and provides information on zoning, subdivisions, grading and other related land use activities.  The proposed 84 amendment items in the 2022 Code Update are separated into two ordinances: Citywide Amendments and Amendments to the Centre City Planned District Ordinance. Within those two ordinances are five categories:



  1. Align policy with the City’s climate, equity and housing goals,

  2. Regulatory reform,

  3. Compliance with state law

  4. Corrections

  5. Clarifications.
