Arts & Culture Lab Series

The City of San Diego, in collaboration with The Nonprofit Institute (NPI), are thrilled to announce a new opportunity designed to support small to mid-sized arts and culture nonprofit organizations - the Arts & Culture Lab Series!

Arts & Culture Lab Series

The primary goal is to help participants from small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations gain a deeper understanding of how to seek funding for arts and culture-related activities at various levels (local, county, state, federal), navigate the application process with confidence and understand its requirements, prepare a robust proposal, and identify and understand the award obligations and reporting once funding is awarded.

Eligibility

You’re invited and encouraged to apply if:

  • You are an arts and culture nonprofit organization or nonprofit organization with a history of producing arts and culture projects or activities (note: a nonprofit organization conducting work without federal tax-exempt nonprofit status under section 501(c)(3) or (6) of the Internal Revenue Code may be eligible to apply)
  • Have an annual operating budget below $1 million
  • Are based in or serve communities in the lowest quartile of the California Healthy Places Index within San Diego County, which includes the following zip codes: 91906, 91910, 91911, 91917, 91945, 91950, 92004, 92020, 92021, 92025, 92027, 92028, 92054, 92057, 92058, 92060, 92061, 92069, 92070, 92078, 92084, 92102, 92104, 92105, 92111, 92112, 92113, 92114, 92124, 92154, 92173; and
  • Be available to attend all four Lab sessions listed below:
    • Session 1: Aug 15, 2024@ 2-5pm
    • Session 2: Aug 22, 2024@ 2-5pm
    • Session 3: Sep 5, 2024@ 2-5pm
    • Session 4: Sep 12, 2024@ 2-5pm
