Salzman

Notes

Chaplain Salzman is an active member of the San Diego County Trauma Intervention Program serving alongside fire, police and medical examiner personnel for the care of community members. She has gained a great appreciation and heart for the men and women who serve in emergency services as they serve our community. Responding to crime scenes, suicides, highway fatalities, infant deaths, active shooter, and emergency room traumas, she has seen the stress fire fighters face each day. Chaplain Salzman is trained in CISM through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and with FEMA, as well as experienced in disaster recovery service during the deployment to Hurricane Irma in 2016 with Crisis Response International. With further education in ASSIST (suicide prevention/response training), individual and group crisis intervention, final details, death notification, mental health issues and substance abuse, it is her desire to be a resource of support for peace, hope and presence for fire fighters seeking support. Whether it is a conversation needed for a simple connection or for processing personal or job challenges, or where there is a need to explore resources for emotional, spiritual, physical, or personal needs, she is trained and experienced to offer support. Chaplain Salzman is an ordained chaplain and alumni at both Liberty and Indiana Wesleyan Universities. She lives in Carlsbad with her husband of thirty years and enjoys spending time with her four children and daughter-in-law and bull dog pup named Louis. Elizabeth’s simple “mode of operation” in life for supporting simple problems or great trials is to simply “keep moving”; taking one small step at a time each day and to avoiding hesitation too long allows one to focus on the mountain ahead.
