Battalion Chief David Pilkerton was born and raised in La Mesa, California and is a second-generation firefighter. Chief Pilkerton began his career as a firefighter with the City of San Diego in 1987 and is currently assigned as a Command Battalion Chief with San Diego Fire-Rescue working in the Emergency Command and Data Center (ECDC). Dave has been married to his wife for 27 years and has a son and daughter. Dave has always been involved with non-profit organizations volunteering and directly helping firefighters and their families. Dave is a former board member on the San Diego Fireman’s Relief Association who managed the health care plan and benevolent fund. Chief Pilkerton is very energetic and passionate and has worked various positions in the department. Dave understands the daily life of the stressful environments that employees are exposed to both personally and professionally and want to help those in need.
