Kevin's career path has included being a Chicago Suburban firefighter, EMT, paramedic and a Navy Corpsman. He currently serves as the Safety Operations Manager at the Rock Church & Academy in San Diego as he oversees safety operations, event operations, Safety Team Training, CPS Investigations and helps produce the Annual National Church Safety and Security Conference.  Chaplain Johnstone is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management, Peer Support and other basic chaplaincy services.  He is a commissioned minister/chaplain of the Rock Church and has a heart to serve all levels of emergency response personnel needs.  Kevin serves as a Chaplain for San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Five and is the Photographer for the Carlsbad Fire Department.

The Rock Church also has five retail locations and a school K-12. With the number of attendees and locations, the Rock regularly handles more than its share of security concerns and challenges.
