SAN DIEGO Mayor Todd Gloriatodayannouncedthat he hastappedCity Councilmember Marni vonWilpertand attorney Gil Cabrerato serve on theSan Diego CountyRegional Airport AuthorityBoard ofDirectors.He also announced that current BoardMember JohannaSchiavoniwill serve asChair, replacingApril Boling, who will step downfrom theBoard at the end of the month.

CouncilmembervonWilpertsappointment requires the approval of the City Council.

Councilmember Marni vonWilpert, JohannaSchiavoniand Gil Cabrera havealllong demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving quality of life for all San Diegans, Mayor Gloria said. Each of these appointees bringsconsiderable enthusiasm and expertise to the task of helping guide the Airport Authority into the future as we work to modernize San Diego International Airport and integrate all of our regional transportation modes in the coming years. Id like to offer my gratitude to April Boling for her leadership and her many years of dedicated service to the Authority.

Marni vonWilpertsaid:Im honored to serve on the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority to continueaddressingthe long-term needs of the San Diego International Airport. Ourairport remains the main gateway for travelers coming to San Diego for business and leisure.I look forward to making sure San Diegos air transportation is safe, reliableand sustainable so that our tourism economy thrives.

April Boling said:I am very proud of the Airport Authoritys accomplishments during my Chairmanship, including the completion of the International Arrivals Facility as well as a new lease agreement with the airlines, which have positioned the airport well for the much-needed replacement of Terminal 1. There are many challenges ahead, and I am confident the new Board and leadership will represent the airport and region well.
