The Belgian Waffle Ride California (BWR CA), one of the most prestigious bike races in America. Known as ‘the most unique cycling event in the world,’ the BWR CA stands as a testament to the evolution of gravel racing, capturing the essence of endurance, grit, and community. Established in 2012, it holds the prestigious title of being the oldest gravel race in the region… and the largest. The BWR is a week’s worth of festivities that culminate on race weekend, April 27 – 28, with the BWR Unroad Expo at North City in San Marcos, which will feature 65 vendors, food, beer, and family fun. Race day features Belgian waffles, three-different race distances, more Belgian waffles, and Belgian ale.
One of the key attractions is its ability to draw world-class riders from various corners of the globe. The event has gained international acclaim, attracting elite cyclists who seek the ultimate gravel challenge. Their participation adds a luster, elevating it to a global platform and showcasing San Diego as a premier destination for cycling. It also gives amateur riders the unique opportunity to rub shoulders with their heroes.
