Photo by John Lloyd Wright Collection, 1913
1913 photo of the construction site of the Golden West Hotel at the corner of 4th and G in the Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel has been in operation since it opened. It was originally called the Workingman's Hotel and was designed by John Lloyd Wright, son of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. According to legend, Will Rogers definitely stayed there, Wyatt Earp may have stayed there, and Mae West almost stayed there.
