Photo by San Diego Union Tribune Photographer, 1927
1927 photo of the construction of Bank of America at 6th and Broadway. In 1926, Roscoe Elwood Hazard, Sr., known as 'Pappy' founded R.E. Hazard Contracting Company as a California corporation, with headquarters in downtown San Diego. It has become one of San Diego's largest general engineering contracting firms. The Hotel Beacon (on the right side of the photo) was demolished and replaced in 1928 with the San Diego Trust and Savings Bank building.
