Shelltown is located within the Southeastern San Diego Community. It is bordered by National City on the south, Barrio Logan on the west, 43rd Avenue on the east, and the neighborhood of Southcrest on the north. The majority of Shelltown is made up of residential homes that were built between 1920 and 1969. Shelltown is also part of the Southeastern planning group for the City of San Diego. Southeastern San Diego is a large urbanized and ethnically diverse community located adjacent to downtown San Diego."
