Hand fan made of paper and bamboo, measuring 10.5 inches long and spanning 17 inches when opened, accompanied by a bamboo display stand. The Japanese hand fans originated in Kyoto in the seventh century and are an important symbol in Japan. They were used by warriors as a form of weapon, actors and dancers for performances, and children as a toy. Donor's name and occasion information were not provided to the City Clerk's office.
