Kline Swonger is a San Diego-based artist who earned her Master of Fine Arts in sculpture at San Diego State University School of Art + Design (SDSU). Originally from Los Angeles, she received a double major BA in Art and Environmental Studies from Pitzer College and AS in Landscape Architecture from San Diego Mesa College. She explores concepts of the in-between, loss, place, and perception through her work. Light, shadow and materials representative of both urban and natural landscapes are incorporated into her work, allowing for moments of reflection and pause. Her accomplishments include being selected for the 17th Annual San Diego State University Art Council Student Award Exhibition and the SDSU MFA Graduate Exhibition Award. Additionally, the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library chose Swonger's work for inclusion in the 28th and 29th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library. She completed two artist residencies at Art Produce Gallery and Sepehri Gallery in the past year. Her work is featured in the Make Yourself at Home Exhibition at the San Diego International Airport in Terminal 2 and Four Visions: A Celebration of the Year of the Woman exhibition at the William D. Cannon Gallery. In addition to the California Contemporary Indoor Sculpture Exhibition at the Chico Art Center. For Park Social, Swonger is working with frequent collaborator Kasi Muñoz on a project.
