Brian Goeltzenleuchter is an artist, writer, and educator. He earned his MFA in 2001 at the University of California San Diego; he went on to be an Associate Professor of Art and Director of the MFA program at Central Washington University. Brian’s work investigates the use-value of art and the role of art institutions in shaping the social sphere. Resulting from his interest in complex bodies of knowledge, Goeltzenleuchter has collaborated with a diverse field of practitioners outside of the arts. He has held residencies at the Institute for Art and Olfaction, Los Angeles, Banff Centre, Canada, Sculpture Space, New York, and Centrum Beeldende Kunst, The Netherlands. Goeltzenleuchter is Research Fellow at the Institute for Public and Urban Affairs and Faculty Fellow in the Weber Honors College, San Diego State University. He is currently a Faculty Fellow in the Weber Honors College and Research Fellow at the Institute for Public and Urban Affairs, San Diego State University.
