Affordable Housing Permitting Dashboard

This dashboard provides a snapshot of the Affordable Housing permits processed by City’s Development Services Department (DSD) and reflects the applications received in various stages of the permitting process, including in review, permitted/entitled or constructed. This data is an approximation based on current source data since 2020 and is subject to change and validation at a later date. 


The Affordable Housing Dashboard includes housing units produced by private developers through the Inclusionary Affordable Housing Program. Learn more about the City’s General Plan Housing Element


Instructions for Using the Dashboard


Filter the dashboard by clicking on the charts. Use the 'Ctrl' key to select additional data. Hover over the data elements to display tool-tips. The parameters at the bottom of the dashboard help filter data by category.


The data presented in the dashboard is a system-generated estimate of all affordable housing permits processed by the Development Services Department as of , and may differ from previous dashboard results or other City reports with additional data validation.

Key





Data Filters



  • Add/Alt 3+ Fam, Increase DU: The addition or alteration of a three or more unit residential building, with increased dwelling units.

  • Add/Alt Companion Unit/Acc Apt: The addition or alteration of an Accessory Dwelling Unit.

  • Five or More Family Apt: The addition or alteration of a residential building apartment building of five or more units.

  • Five or More Family Condo: The addition or alteration of a five or more unit residential building condominiums.

  • Single-Room Occupant Hotel: The addition or alteration of a single room occupant hotel unit.

  • Three or Four Family Apt: The addition or alteration of a three- or four-unit residential building apartment.

  • Two-Family Apartment: The addition or alteration of a two-family apartment.




Approval Status



  • Created: The approval has been created and has not received issuance.

  • Pending Invoice Payment: The approval is pending payment of the invoice.

  • Issued: The approval was issued.

  • Completed: The approval and inspections are complete.






AMI Levels


Federal and State housing assistance programs set maximum incomes for eligibility to live in assisted housing. This also includes the maximum rents and housing costs that may be charged to eligible residents, based on their incomes and surveys of the local area median income (AMI).




  • Extremely Low Income:  0-30% of AMI




  • Very Low Income: >30% to 50% of AMI




  • Low Income: >50% to 80% of AMI




  • Moderate Income: >80% to 120% of AMI






Project Processing Code



  • Standard: Approvals processed through the standard DSD processes.

  • Express: Approvals that have been designated under Express Plan Check criteria.

  • Expedite: Approvals that have been designated under Expedite Program
