Fire Station 20 was originally opened at 3575 Kettner Blvd. in 1928. The current building opened in November 1962. Station 20 is responsible for repairing, maintaining and testing fire hose. Each of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's 48 fire engines has 3,000 feet of hose. The cost ranges from $70.00 for a small-diameter hose to $400.00 for a large 4-inch hose.
