Heavy Rescue 4


Heavy Rescue 4, located at Station 4 in downtown San Diego, is outfitted with specialized rescue equipment such as Jaws of Life, generator and winch hoist. Heavy Rescue 4 responds to all first alarms downtown and all challenging rescues throughout the City.
The Rescue 4 rig is a 1992 Pierce Lance II Apparatus powered by a 400 hp, 552 cubic inch, V6 Detroit Diesel motor.
This specially designed rig features:
- Four 100' hydraulic reels that supply the Amkus vehicle rescue system
- An onboard 25,000 Watt PTO driven generator
- Scene lighting
- A 12,000 pound Warn Winch
Some of the tools carried include: several types of saws, air bags capable of lifting more than 74 tons, shoring materials, many different types of hand tools as well as firefighting and emergency medical equipment.
