Olivia Quintanilla’s Pacific Islander Education and Empowerment through the Arts campaign objective is to advance voter awareness, education, engagement, empowerment, and inclusive participation through ethnic studies and the arts in the lowest quartile California Healthy Places Index communities across San Diego County, including National City and Oceanside. The campaign strategy includes relationship building and research by inviting Pacific Islander people and election education stakeholders to meet and exchange knowledge, ideas, and needs at multiple community workshops. Quintanilla aims to collaborate with Pacific Island artists and educators to create and design workshop content promotional materials and short videos that highlight workshops and insights gathered as promotional materials for voter awareness and engagement.

Olivia Quintanilla

Olivia Arlene Quintanilla is a Chamoru educator born and raised in San Diego. Her cultural practice focuses on intergenerational public ethnic studies programming that centers on civic and community engagement. She organizes workshops and events that use culture, such as food, music, dance, poetry, art, and storytelling, as a catalyst for connection, awareness, and social change. A first-generation college student alumni of San Diego community colleges, San Diego State University, and the University of California San Diego, she is now an Ethnic Studies professor at MiraCosta Community College in Oceanside.
