Walter Munk Day ~ Celebrate Our Oceans

The Walter Munk Foundation for the Oceans will celebrate our 2nd Annual Ocean Awareness Day honoring Walter Munk’s 80-year legacy of daring exploration and discovery through scientific research, education and ocean conservation. The Event will include our traditional Ocean Alley and a program featuring the unveiling of the bronze sculpture titled “From the HEIGHTS of Mt. Soledad to the DEPTHS of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla” which depicts the topography of Mt. Soledad and the bathymetry of the canyons offshore. It promises to be a memorable event with dignitaries in attendance, music, face painters, and lots of fun for everyone!

Location: Half of Park starting at the Intersection of Camino Del Oro and Vallecitos. Restroom and showers are adjacent to the Educational Plaza containing THE MAP of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla™ and the future site of the Bronze Sculpture, 'From the HEIGHTS of Mt. Soledad to the DEPTHS of The Grand Canyons of La Jolla. The Educational Plaza will be dedicated and the Bronze Sculpture unveiled by the Mayor and Hon. Scott Peters during the Celebration of Our Oceans Event 10/14/2023.
