On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the 9/11 Heroes 5k Run and Ruck race commemorates and honors all those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. The proceeds all goto the Travis Manion Foundation. Lt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in action while deployed in Iraq in 2007. His family started up the foundation in his name, and its primary goal is to improve the mental health & well-being for veterans and families of the fallen. The Foundation provides an innovative and proactive approach to mental health and suicide prevention. In addition, the Foundation works to bridge the civilian-military divide (“uniting communities”). The flat and fun route takes athletes all throughout NTC Park at Liberty Station.
