Waldo Waterman Memorial and Biography

Memorial at Albatross and Maple Streets commemorating Waldo Waterman's 1909 flight, and his biography co-authored by Jack Carpenter. On July 1, 1959, the Early Birds and the San Diego Historical Society dedicated the plaque to Early Bird Waldo Waterman on the 50th anniversary of his first flight. The dedication was made on the site of his first glider flight July 1, 1909, down a steep slope in San Diego at the age of 15 years. Mayor Dail dedicated the plaque and introduced Carol and Nellie Blackwell, grandaughters of Waldo Waterman.
