Aerial view of Lindbergh Field in 1936. Inspired by Charles Lindbergh's historic 1927 transatlantic flight from Ryan Airline's nearby Dutch Flats airstrip, the city passed a bond issue in 1928 for the construction of a two-runway municipal airport. Lindbergh agreed to lend his name to it. The airport was dedicated on August 16, 1928. (Photo by Erickson)
