J.D. Spreckels contracted Architect Harrison Albright to build the mansion in 1906. It was completed in 1908 with six bedrooms, three baths, a parlor, dining room and library at the cost of $35,000, including a brass cage elevator, a marble staircase, skylights, marble floors and spectacular gardens. A music room was added in 1913. In 1928, the mansion was sold to Ira Copley. Realtor Louis deRyk Millen bought it in 1949, and the current owners in 1975, who completed a major modernization and historic renovation. (Photo by Erickson)
