Two miniature Yakko kites, a wooden hammer-shaped base with an attached ball on a string, and a spinning top. In Japan Yakko Kite is 'Good Omen in Life'. In old days, Toyotomi Hideyoshi was a Yakko (foot-soldier) and finally succeeded to the rank of the Premier, the highest accessible rank to subjects. In Japan, children fly 'Yakko' kites wishing to be as lucky as Hideyoshi. The kites have a framework of 3 long ribs and wind pockets. These were given to Mayor Golding by Japan during the Economic Development Council Trade Mission in 1994.
