Soroban made of brown wooden beads in a black frame. There are 23 rows of beads and 5 beads in each row. The soroban measures approximately 13 x 2-1/2 inches and is stored in a black and white case. The soroban (counting tray) is an abacus developed in Japan. This was received from students in Yokohama during the Mayor's trip to the orient, November 11, 1983, to December 30, 1983. Yokohama, Japan has been a San Diego Sister City since 1957.
