Framed Mexican Bark Painting of a woman in ethnic costume, measuring 27-1/2 x 39 inches. Bark Paintings are one of the original folk arts of the traditional Mexican culture and dates back to 1200BC. Artisans make bark paintings by washing and boiling bark, drying it on wooden boards, and then beating the bark with a stone until fused. After fusing bark paper, they paint scenes using bright colors. This was donated by Mayor Hector Osuna of Tijuana, Mexico. Tijuana has been a San Diego Sister City since 1993.
