This screen painting is a copy of one by the artist Giuseppe Castiglione (1688-1766), an Italian Jesuit Brother, missionary in China, and painter at the court of the Emperor. The screen is copper in color and measures 66 inches by 18-3/4 inches. The picture itself is 23 by 13-7/8 inches and shows eight horses underneath a willow tree by the bank of a stream. Donated by the City of Taichung, San Diego's Sister City in Taiwan since 1983.
