Book titled 'A Dog Called Bum', by Marie Hitchcock and Genevieve Engman. It tells the story of San Diego's famous Official Town Dog. A statue of Bum is in William Heath Davis House Park in San Diego's Gaslamp District. Bum died in 1898. His name suited him because he befriended everyone and 'bummed' food from local eateries. This was presented by the author and her sister Genevieve. A letter on Padre Puppeteers letterhead explans that proceeds from the sale of the book were donated to the HEAR Foundation.
