Wooden 10-inch plaque with the logo of the Naval Amphibious School. The plate reads: Presented to Mayor Pete Wilson, from the Senior Allied Officers Sixteenth Annual Amphibious Warfare Course, 1973. The Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, was established in 1943 by dredging the bay so large ships could steam into Naval Station San Diego. The base is used for training SEALs, amphibious insertion and other small units.
