The 1989 Davis Cup was the 78th edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. A total of 79 nations participated in the tournament. The United States played France in the Quarterfinals in San Diego, winning 5 to 0, advanced to the July Semifinals and lost to West Germany. The final was in December at Stuttgart, where West Germany defeated Sweden.
