The People’s Business – September 30, 2022

The City Council holds a special joint meeting at the SDSU Campus in the morning with the County Board of Supervisors to address San Diego’s shortage of affordable housing.  Councilmembers will return downtown to Council Chambers for an afternoon meeting to consider the implementation ordinance for the Commission on Police Practices and related actions.

HousingItem 600 - Joint Acknowledgement of the Impacts of the Lack of Affordable Housing in San Diego and Declaring Intent to Work Together to Support Increasing the Region’s Affordable Housing Supply - The San Diego City Council and County Board of Supervisors are coming together to jointly acknowledge and address the region’s top issue: the affordable housing crisis. The lack of affordable housing in our region is negatively impacting our economic growth and is the primary driver of our homelessness problem. The City and the County will commit, to working together on innovative and practical steps to help us realize 10,000 new units of affordable housing by 2030.

Item 634 – Filipino American History Month celebrates the second-largest Asian-American Community in the United States and encourages people to attend the many community activities planned for October.

Item 635 - Determination of Collective Bargaining Matters Related to Proposed Implementation Ordinance for the Commission on Police Practices and Proposed Amended Interim Standard Operating Procedures – The City of San Diego management team for labor relations presents two matters related to the implementation of the City’s Commission on Police Practices to the City Council for final determination.  The Council must determine whether to approve the proposed implementation ordinance for the Commission and the proposed amended interim standard operating procedures.
