The COVID-19 Response and Recovery Committee will get updates from County health officials on the latest uptick in cases and hear information about monitoring COVID-19 rates in communities. An evening session of the City Council Meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the FY 2023 Proposed Budget after work hours.

COVID-19 Response and Recovery Committee Meeting - May 16, 2022 – 9 a.m.
Item 1 - Equitable Healthcare and Monitoring as COVID-19 Becomes Endemic – This is an informational presentation from Dr. Christian Ramers with the Family Health Centers of San Diego about the importance of monitoring metrics to be prepared for new COVID-19 variant of concern, the benefits of equitable healthcare throughout our communities, and offer insight into possible challenges for government as COVID-19 becomes endemic.
Item 2 - Public Utilities Department and Southern California Coastal Water Research Project COVID-19 Wastewater Surveillance Presentation – California’s State Water Resources Control Board and the California Department of Public Health requested the City’s PUD to voluntarily collect wastewater samples beginning in 2021. This is an informational item.
Item 3 - County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency COVID-19 Pandemic and Case Rate Update – Jennifer Tuteur, MD. Deputy Chief Medical Officer County of San Diego will provide an update on COVID19 case and vaccine rates, recent changes in public health guidance, information on variants, and any additional essential information on behalf of the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.
Item 4 - Summer for All of Us: Come Play Outside, Do Your Homework Summer Camps, and Workforce Programs for Summer 2022 – These programs focus on youth in historically underserved communities, identified as communities of concern in the 2019 Climate Equity Index. This report provides an update on each program and outlines how each will serve San Diegans in summer 2022.

City Council Meeting – May 16, 2022 – 6 p.m.
Item 200 – Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2023 Proposed Budget - The purpose of this item is to provide the public with an opportunity to testify about the Mayor’s Fiscal Year 2023 Proposed Budget at an evening meeting. In addition, this meeting provides an additional opportunity for Councilmembers to ask questions and make comments about the Fiscal Year 2023 Proposed Budget.
