The People’s Business – August 1, 2022
In Tuesday's meeting, Councilmembers will consider the update on the City's Climate Action Plan and related changes to ordinances. They will also address a group of items for purchases of chemicals for water treatment which were continued from Monday's meeting to allow more time for staff response to Councilmember questions.
Note: This is the last meeting of the City Council before the August legislative recess. The City Council committee meetings will be held on September 7 while the next meeting of the full Council will be held on September 12.

Consent Agenda
The Consent Agenda comprises 27 items including appointments and reappointments to the SD County Water Authority Board of Directors and the Accessibility Advisory Board. It also includes a resolution for the City to declare support of Representative Sara Jacobs’ “My Body, My Data Act” to Protect the Privacy, Data, and Safety of People Seeking Reproductive Healthcare.

Item 30 – Survivors of Torture International Day recognizes an organization that for 25 years has helped survivors heal with culturally-responsive, linguistically appropriate services to torture survivors and their families.
Item 31 – American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month celebrates Muslims in America and their contributions to San Diego communities.
Item 32 – Dr. Sammy Totah Day honors a board chair of the San Diego Workforce Partnership who is stepping down after nine years of services as board member.
Item S501 – Mad Hatters Day recognizes a youth band for their many for their talent and love of performance all overs San Diego.
Item S502 – Bridgette Brashear Day celebrates a San Diego City employee who began work as a janitor over 30 years and became building supervisor of downtown buildings.
Item S503 – Henretta Shields Day celebrates a San Diego resident who will be celebrating her 106th birthday.

Item 330 - 2022 Climate Action Plan – Net Zero by 2035 - The 2022 Climate Action Plan (CAP) sets a goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2035 with updated strategies, measures and actions. This update centers climate equity through robust community engagement and pushes for bold action to mitigate the effects of climate change beyond the previously adopted 2015 CAP.
Item 331 - Climate Action Plan Update Package Municipal Code, Land Development Manual, and Local Coastal Program Amendments (CAP Consistency Regulations) - This item, the CAP Update Package, is a package of amendments to the San Diego Municipal Code, Land Development Manual and Local Coastal Program that implement aspects of the CAP Update.
