Holiday Schedule for City Offices and Services

Christmas Day Holiday Observance on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and New Year's Day Holiday Observance on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025

Please note the following impacts on City offices and services:



Trash Collection

Curbside trash, recyclables, and organic waste will NOT BE collected on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, for customers served by the City's Environmental Services Department. For the Christmas holiday, Wednesday’s regularly scheduled collection will occur on Thursday, Dec. 26, Thursday’s collection on Friday, Dec. 27, and Friday’s collection on Saturday, Dec. 28. For the New Year's holiday, Wednesday’s regularly scheduled collection will occur on Thursday, Jan. 2, Thursday’s collection on Friday, Jan. 3, and Friday’s collection on Saturday, Jan. 4. 

Applicable to residents serviced by the City of San Diego only. Residents not serviced by the City of San Diego or residents of other cities, should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.

The Miramar Landfill, Greenery, Recycling Center and Mattress Collection Site will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Container sales at 8353 Miramar Place will also be CLOSED. For regular hours and questions, call 858-694-7000.



Parking

NOT ENFORCED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024 and Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Library

All libraries will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024 and on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024 and will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.

Libraries will also be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 and will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.



Parks & Recreation

Golf courses will be OPEN until dusk. Holiday rates will apply.

All City reservoirs will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

Chollas Lake will be OPEN, weather permitting.

Mission Trails Regional Park will be OPEN.

Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

All skate parks and the Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track at 5977 Village Center Loop Rd. will be OPEN.

Dog off-leash areas are OPEN.

Public buildings in Balboa Park will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. 

These public buildings will also be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, including:

  • Balboa Park Activity Center
  • Morley Field
  • Municipal Gym

Check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules.

All City recreation centers and City pools will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024 and on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and will reopen on their typical schedule starting Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.

Recreation centers and pools will also be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, and will reopen on their typical schedule starting Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will be OPEN.

Tecolote Nature Center will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024  and on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and will reopen on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.

The Nature Center will also be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District Offices will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024.

Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District Offices will also be CLOSED Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.



City Offices

All Administrative Offices will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

Development Services Department (DSD) will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. 

  • The department line (619-446-5000) and in-person records will be closed, and virtual appointments will be limited between Thursday, Dec. 26, and Tuesday, Dec. 31.

DSD permitting services will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

  • Online services will still be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting Building and Land Use Enforcement investigations.  
  • Check online permit processing timelines for intake, review and permit issuance.

The Personnel Department’s Testing and Background/Fingerprinting offices will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

The Office of the City Clerk's Passport Services will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. 

Passport services will also be CLOSED on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.

Your Safe Place - A Family Justice Center will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Center will also be CLOSED on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. 

Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. Anyone experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency should call 9-1-1.

Public Safety

Police and Fire emergency crews will not be impacted.

Station 38 (Citywide emergency dispatch center) will be on duty.
