Ruth Martin

PERFORMANCE AUDITOR II

Ruth Martin joined the Office of the City Auditor in January 2024. She has over 10 years of combined experience working in municipal government, including the County of San Diego and the City of San Diego.

Before joining the Office of the City Auditor, she worked for three years for the Supervisorial District 1 Office at the County of San Diego, most recently serving as Interim Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs. In that role, she managed the legislative portfolio of the office; researched, tracked, and analyzed policies, regulations, and legislation at the State and Federal level; developed new policy proposals in collaboration with other governmental agencies and key stakeholders; and led a team of Policy Advisors. Prior to that, she worked at the City of San Diego and served in various capacities, including Rules Committee Consultant for the Council President’s Office. Ruth has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies: Political Science from the University of California San Diego (UCSD).
