Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule for City Offices and Services

Please note the following impacts on City offices and services:




Trash Collection

Curbside trash, recyclables, and organic waste will NOT BE collected on Thursday, Nov. 27, for customers served by the City's Environmental Services Department. Thursday's normally scheduled collection will occur on Friday, Nov. 28, and Friday's collection will occur on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Applicable to residents serviced by the City of San Diego only. Residents not serviced by the City of San Diego or residents of other cities, should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.

The Miramar Landfill, Greenery, Recycling Center, Mattress Collection Site and Container sales (at 8353 Miramar Place) will also be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27 and will REOPEN on Friday, Nov. 28. For regular hours and questions, call 858-694-7000.

There will be no street sweeping in the City of San Diego on Thursday, Nov. 27.

Library

All libraries will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27, and on Friday, Nov. 28, and will reopen at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.




Parks & Recreation

Golf courses will be OPEN until dusk. Holiday rates will apply.

All City reservoirs will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27.

Chollas Lake will be OPEN, weather permitting.

Mission Trails Regional Park will be OPEN.

Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27.

All skate parks and the Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track at 5977 Village Center Loop Rd. will be OPEN.

All public buildings in Balboa Park will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27 and on Friday, Nov. 28 including:

  • Balboa Park Activity Center
  • Botanical Building
  • Morley Field
  • Municipal Gym

Check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules.

Approved dog off-leash areas will be OPEN.

All City recreation centers and City pools will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, and will REOPEN on their typical schedules starting Saturday, Nov. 29.

Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will be OPEN.

Tecolote Nature Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, and will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.




City Offices

All Administrative Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The Office of the City Clerk will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. Passport Services will not be available to customers served by the Office of the City Clerk on Thursday and Friday. 

Development Services Department (DSD) permitting services will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27, and REOPEN on Friday, Nov. 28.

  • Online services will still be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting code enforcement investigations.
  • Check online permit processing timelines for intake, review and permit issuance.

The Personnel Department's Testing and Background/Fingerprinting offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27.

Your Safe Place - A Family Justice Center will be CLOSED on Thursday, Nov. 27, and will REOPEN on Friday, Nov. 28. Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. Anyone experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency should call 9-1-1.

Public Safety

Police and Fire emergency crews will not be impacted.

Station 38 (Citywide emergency dispatch center) will be on duty.
