Volunteer at the Library!
The San Diego Public Library's robust Volunteer Program connects caring people to a great cause. The Library's dedicated volunteers are an integral part of the library's operations. They help the library leverage limited resources and fulfill its mission to inspire lifelong learning through connections to knowledge and each other.
The San Diego Public Library has a rich history of working closely with volunteers. Dedicated volunteers from all ages, backgrounds, skill sets and phases of life assist library staff to extend the services and programs the library can offer to the public.
We welcome volunteers who are eager to help make a real difference in their community!

Do Your Homework @ the Library Volunteer Opportunities
If you are patient, a good listener and have a passion for helping youth, consider volunteering as a "homework coach" with the Do Your Homework @ the Library program.
Located at 18 different library locations, the Do Your Homework @ the Library program offers K-8 students personalized assistance with their school-assigned homework. Volunteers help students complete their homework assignments and act as positive role models.
Interested applicants must be age 15 or older and complete an orientation, interview and background check. No prior teaching or tutoring experience is required. More information about the Do Your Homework @ the Library program is available on the Library's Homework Help Center page, or register to volunteer at one of our library locations by visiting Better Impact today.
