Holiday Schedule for City Offices and Services
Independence Day (observed) on Friday, July 3, 2026
Please note the following impacts on City offices and services:
Trash Collection
Curbside trash, recyclables and organic waste will be collected as scheduled on Friday, July 3. Delivery of new light blue recycling bins will continue as scheduled.
Applicable to residents serviced by the City of San Diego only. Residents not serviced by the City of San Diego or residents of other cities, should check with their waste hauler for holiday service schedules.
The Miramar Landfill, Greenery, Recycling Center and Mattress Collection Site will be OPEN Friday, July 3 but CLOSED on Saturday, July 4.
The Household Hazardous Waste Transfer Facility will be CLOSED on Saturday, July 4.
Parking
NOT ENFORCED on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.

Library
All libraries will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Library locations that are open Mondays, will reopen July 6, at 11:30 a.m.
Parks & Recreation
All Golf courses will be OPEN until dusk on Friday, July 3. Weekday rates will apply. The Mission Bay Golf Course driving range will remain OPEN until 9:30 p.m.
Barrett, El Capitan, Hodges, Lower and Upper Otay Reservoirs will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3. All other City reservoirs will be OPEN during regular operating hours.
All City reservoirs will be OPEN on Saturday, July 4.
Chollas Lake will be OPEN, weather permitting.
Mission Trails Regional Park and Mission Trails Regional Park Visitors Center will be OPEN on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.
All skate parks and the Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track at 5977 Village Center Loop Rd. will be OPEN, on Friday, July 3.
All dog off-leash areas will be OPEN.
Public buildings in Balboa Park will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, including:
- Balboa Park Activity Center
- Botanical Building
- Morley Field
- Municipal Gym
Check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules.
All City recreation centers will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. They will resume their normal operating hours beginning Monday, July 6.
Some City pools will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3, and will reopen on their typical schedule starting Saturday, July 4. The following swimming pools will be OPEN with holiday hours from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m,:
- Friday, July 3: Allied Gardens, Bud Kearns, Carmel Mountain and Memorial.
- Saturday, July 4: Bud Kearns, City Heights, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ned Baumer Aquatic Center and Swanson.
Beach Wheelchair Program will be OPEN at Mission Beach on Friday, July 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., but CLOSED on Saturday, July 4.
Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will be OPEN.
Tecolote Nature Center will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.
Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District Offices will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3.
City Offices
All Administrative Offices will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3.
There will be no street sweeping on Friday, July 3.
The Development Services Department (DSD) in-person services will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3. Normal operations will resume on Monday, July 6.
- Online services will still be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting code enforcement investigations.
- Check online permit processing timelines for intake, review and permit issuance.
The Personnel Department's Employment Information Center, Testing and Background/Fingerprinting offices will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3.
The Office of the City Clerk will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3.
- Passport Services will not be available for customers served by the Office of the City Clerk on Friday, July 3.
Your Safe Place - The San Diego Family Justice Center will be CLOSED on Friday, July 3.
Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-888-385-4657. Anyone experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency should call 9-1-1.

Public Safety
Police and Fire emergency crews will not be impacted.
Station 38 (Citywide emergency dispatch center) will be on duty.
